Seychelles

Description

A wonderful archipelago of 115 islands, the Seychelles are a group of granite islands, coral islands and atolls recognized as some of the most beautiful in the world. Located in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of East Africa between Madagascar and the Maldives, they have a unique ecosystem on earth in which plants and animals live that have no equal elsewhere. A trip to the Seychelles is a dream to live at least once in your life, among magnificent beaches and coral reefs of incomparable beauty.

Praslin Island

Praslin, whose original name was Isle de Palme, or “palm island”, along whose coasts there are many enchanting beaches with magnificent bays (called “anse”) bordered by granite boulders and a spectacular frame of verdant vegetation, is a true sanctuary for birds and giant tortoises.
It will make you discover one of the most representative symbols of the Seychelles: the Coco de Mer, a very rare palm whose seed – the largest in the world – resembles a woman’s pelvis, which grows in the Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve, an extraordinary primeval forest also known as “the Garden of Eden” absolutely worth a visit.

The Climate

The climate in Seychelles is warm and tropical and, because the islands are close to the equator, there is relatively little variation in temperature and humidity. The seasons are determined by the alternation of the monsoon; the months between June and September bring less humidity, while December and February are the wettest and rainiest months; however, rainfall is variable and almost never continuous. Temperatures range from 28 to 32 degrees.

History

In the Seychelles, French, African and Malagasy influences are like seeds thrown into this fertile land: the fruits are the explosive colours of oil paintings, traditional music and dance. The culture in the Seychelles also passes through gastronomy and takes inspiration from a multitude of influences, which over the course of two centuries have blended together to form the archipelago’s peculiar “recipe book”. Creole cuisine combines exotic Indian and Asian dishes with the spicy flavours of the East and some more refined recipes from European culinary culture. These elements find their expression in a unique mix: with our “Back to the Origins” excursion you can enjoy all this while being a guest for lunch at the table of a real local family.
The traditions and Creole folklore in the Seychelles undoubtedly represent an added value for your trip, but the main attractions are the beaches and stunning nature. In these magnificent settings the water is particularly shallow and calm, making it perfect for activities such as swimming, snorkeling and diving, and discovering the wonderful marine world of the Seychelles!
